Housing Mars is a module of the ENAC teaching units of the EPFL, that bring together students of architecture, civil engineering and environmental sciences around common projects.

Housing Mars questions the necessary conditions for the colonization of the Red Planet: which structures, which resources, which habitat. In some way utopian, this research under such rigorous conditions will however also lead to innovative and more efficient technologies for life on earth.

In our group, the research focused on the issue of atmosphere and light in an extraterrestrial base. Indeed, life on Mars would be conditioned to a completely enclosed habitat and without even windows on the outside due to deadly rays.

For example, we proposed the reproduction of outdoor environments using atrium simulis, or experienced variations in colour, intensity, types of lighting, etc. in various rooms of this imaginary.
